When we had our Johannesburg Top Women for God prayer meeting this last Thursday, we knew God would be there. He guarantees it in His word. He says where two or more are gathered in His name, His will will be done. We met the minimum criteria for this. What we hadn’t realised was that He had a plan to take us on a journey, using prophetic words, prayer and His people gathered in this strategic location. The journey He had in mind was much like that faced by Moses. Os Hillman in his book, The 9 to 5 Window: How Faith can Transform the Workplace, writes:
“In Exodus 4, God required Moses to lay down his [shepherd’s] staff in order for him to see it as something that had power…….God was instructing Moses to lay down that which represented his life calling [his vocation, career], so that He could transform it and raise it up for His purposes.”
When Moses obeyed God and laid down his shepherd’s staff it became God’s staff for miracles, leading and liberating His people. Much like Moses we are called to lay down our purpose, profession, calling, vocation, anointing and even our very lives and all we hold dear. As we do this we will see strongholds crumble. What a privilege it was to partner with Him in making our workplaces and professions part of His Kingdom, as it is in Heaven.
A special thank you to The Hope Factory and South African Institute of Chartered Accountants for hosting our meeting. Our speaker, author Miliswa Mokoteli for sharing how she is living her life in a purposed filled manner for God and the work she does through Her Voice. We thank Liz Manchest Photography and Strategy Digital for being our media partners.
